Structure of the MRCC

The MRCC is constituted out of ten (10) circuits. The following are the circuits and congregations within those circuits:

• ATTA ELLE ROI: Boshoek, Doornbosch, Lethabong, Mogwase, Phatsima and Majakaneng mission field.
• BETHESDA: Khoboni, Lebowakgomo, Matlala, Matshelapata, Moletji, Seshego and Turfloop
• EBENEZER: Garankuwa, Kekana Gardens, Mamelodi, Mamelodi East, Ramotse, Saulsville, Soshanguve and Letlhabile, Mogogelo, Nellmapius and Temba mission fields
• ELIYEZERE: Dlambula, Gugwini No. 1, Khanyayo, Lukholo, Maqongwana, Mbongweni, Mhlokwana, Ncabhela, Nkanyisweni and Nkungwini
• EMMANUEL: Balfour, Daveyton, Natalspruit, Tembisa, Tsakane and Tonga mission field
• EPHRATA: Geelbeksvlei, Gataan, Marble Hall, Siyabuswa and Belabela mission field
• JEDIDIAH: Bodibe, Jouberton, Kanana, Montshiwa, Potchefstroom, Setlagole, Tigane, Wolmaranstad and Mantja mission field
• JEHOVAH JIREH: Bloemfontein, Edenburg, Heilbron, Hennenman, Khayelitsha, Kroonstad, Naledi, Parys and Sasolburg
• JEHOVAH NISSI: Chiawelo, Carletonville, Dobsonville, Dube, Fochville, Residensia, Sebokeng and Sharpeville
• NATAL: Celokuhle, Esiyabonga, Jabulani, Kethukuthula, Ottosbluff, Thandokuhle, Thuthuka, Zamafuthi, Zamokuhle and Khangella and Othandweni mission fields

organs of support

Organs of support in the Church come to existence after an established Biblical, constitutional or experiential need. The following Organs of support exist in the MRCC nationally:

  • Maranatha Reformed Mothers’ Union (MRMU);
  • Amadodana; Maranatha Reformed Fathers’ Union (MRMU);
  • MBB and Sunday School.

Congregations and circuits may establish Organs of Support at that level according to experiential need. 

The 12th General Church Assembly (GCA) was held on the 1 – 4 October 2012 at Port Shepstone in KZN. The new leadership is as follows:

  • Moderator: Rev Prof MJ Manala (Mamelodi East);
  • Scribe: Elder MJ Masenya (Jouberton);
  • Deputy Moderator: Rev ZO Madlala (Kangella);
  • Deputy Scribe: Rev MA Mothopeng (Saulsville);
  • Additional: Rev OA Kgabele (Dube).

Together with the Administrator, Rev Modisaotsile Motloba, who comes in as an ex-officio member, they form the Moderature of the MRCC. The executive authority of the Church vests in the General Church Assembly at synodal level, Circuit Assembly, at circuit level and the Church Council at congregational level.

national level

The General Church Assembly is the highest policy making organ of the Church vested with ultimate authority and the supreme governing body. The Commission of the General Church Assembly (CGCA) is made up of the members of the Moderature, two high profile representatives from each circuit, two representatives from each organ of support and governance at synodal level and two representatives of each synodal committee. The Commission of the General Church Assembly holds at least two meetings during recess and one of those meetings must be held six months before the General Church Assembly. The members of the Commission of the General Church Assembly serve for a period of three years which coincide with the session of the General Church Assembly.

Circuit level

Every circuit comes together annually in an assembly. The executive authority of the circuit assembly vests in the commission. All circuit assemblies coming immediately after the GCA are elective; hence a new leadership is elected after every three years. The Circuit Commission consists of the following members: The Chairperson, the Deputy Chairperson, the Scribe, the Deputy Scribe, the Treasurer, the Public Relations Officer and the Training and Development Coordinator. Members of the Circuit Commission are elected at a full session of the Circuit Assembly by secret ballot and the tenure of office of the members of the Circuit Commission is three years.

CONGREGATIONAL LEVEL

The church council is the executive authority of a congregation. It composes of the Ministers of religion in the congregation, Scribe, registrar, treasurer; two representatives from each organ of support, two representatives each from Boards of Presbytery and Deaconate and co-opted experts. The tenure of office of the members of the church council is three years.

FUNCTIONARIES

The above, it is expected, are to be carried out at all the three levels of church life and governance i.e., by synodal committees and boards, circuit assemblies, commissions and church councils as well as organs of support at all levels.

    TIME FRAMES

    Time and tide waits for no man, goes the English saying. Another saying of similar meaning goes: Procrastination is the thief of time. The two sayings suggest that the implementation should be as soon as possible.

    Dissemination of information: By the end of 2013 all MRCC congregations, circuit commissions and organs of support should be informed about the vision and mission. Information is to be spread through:

    • Visiting members of the moderature to different circuit assemblies.
    • Special and usual circular letters from the office of the scribe and church administrator.
    • The church mouth piece – Montshafatsi.
    • MRCC website.
